Free Visit Guidelines

Guidelines for Using Your “Free Visit” ID Card

For all attendees at the 2017 Rhode Island Docent Symposium, we have an exciting benefit to share with you! Many of the institutions represented at this year’s Symposium have graciously agreed to open their doors to Symposium participants for a free visit during 2017.

The complete list of institutions offering this benefit is included below with their website or contact information. Please refer to their website or phone them directly for hours of operation and directions.

Who Can Take Advantage of This Benefit?

All attendees at today’s Symposium have been issued a special ID badge in your packet. (It’s in the same envelope with your lunch and session tickets.) Only the person named on the ID badge can use it, and you should be prepared to show a photo ID when you arrive at the institution for your free visit. Any guests you bring with you will pay the normal price. Please keep your card in a safe place since it cannot be replaced. For future reference, the information in this document will be posted on our website at

What Kind of Visit Will I Get?

You will typically get one free visit to the main site of the institution, or one free walking tour. In some cases, the institution has multiple sites and you can choose which site you want to visit. Please consult the institution’s website for any guidelines before planning your visit. Some visits will need to be scheduled in advance.

When Can I Go?

You can use this benefit any time the institution is open, from May 9th (the day after the Symposium) to December 31st of this year, although some of the institutions listed below only have seasonal availability. Check online or call the institution to determine open hours.

How Does My ID Card Work?

You will show your Symposium ID badge at each institution. They may also ask for a photo ID. This should grant you one adult regular admission. It will not include special exhibits, tours or lectures. Each participating institution has also been sent a list of 2017 Symposium attendees.
