The 2013 Rhode Island Docent Symposium, “Communication and Collaboration,” is SOLD OUT!
We’ve had an overwhelming response to the event, which will take place at Blithewold Mansion, Gardens, & Arboretum in Bristol, RI on May 13th. We’ve received registrations from docents, guides, and educators from 31 different organizations–21 in Rhode Island, 6 in Massachusetts, and 4 in Connecticut.
We are no longer accepting registrations; any checks that have been sent in will be returned. Everyone who registered online by March 23, or whose check was received on or before that date, will be part of the symposium.
Everyone who successfully registered should have received an email or snail mail acknowledgement of her/his registration. If you have any questions about the status of your registration, please email churst@rihs.org.
We do plan to post PowerPoint presentations, speakers’ notes, handouts, etc. on this site, so please check back later on in the summer summer.
It is our hope that the Docent Symposium will return to an every-other-year schedule, after its five-year hiatus. It will also be our recommendation to engage a larger venue for the anticipated 2015 symposium, so that we don’t have to turn anyone away.
Thanks for your interest and support!
Please tell me what time the Symposium is going to end.
The last formal session will end at 2:30 pm. Then we encourage you to have refreshments in the tent, turn in your evaluation, and tour the house and grounds. The tent will close at 3:30, and all tours must be completed by 3:45 pm.
